Mom's Locs

A few weeks ago mother and I got our hair retightened and I took these photos to show her progress. Mom started with permed ends in October of 2005. 90% of her permed ends are gone and she's definitely looking more locish now. This is quite an accomplishment for her since she has that "soft" textured hair. No where near the super coily stufff I have.

So 14 months later - Mom is so much happier with her locs and that is what's important.

Your mom's locks look great. I just wish my mom would go ahead and take the plunge, but she is in that "fearing of looking right" mode.....

Her babies are definitely progressing and looking good. I forget sometimes that everyone doesn't just love their locks when they are new so I am glad to see that she is stcking with it!

They're developing beautifully!

Thanks Locizm, Jen, Tra and Deja.

Jen - Happy New Year to You too!

Tra - I absolutely agree. "Sticking with it" is a good way of putting it. Paulette said her locs, "turned a corner" and we were all so excited.

Awww...Mom's locks look good!

So funny how hair texture is so different from Mother to Daughter. Same way with me and my Mom.

Thanks Cluizel!

A beautiful inspiration! I think I almost have my mom convinced to lock. She's been without the creamy crack for a year now. She says she'll be ready soon. Perhaps I can get them for her for her birthday in February. I'll show her your mom's pics as encouragement. Thanks for sharing and happy belated New Year. (I'm just catching up on some of my blog reading.)

Goodnapps said...

Thanks Blaq! But don't push too hard if she isn't ready. When you want it for yourself, the journey is that much better. She will come around in due time.

I guess we're gonna have to have a mother/daughter collage in the exchange!! Beautiful!!

Maryee - mother/daughter, sister/sister...that is an excellent idea!

OMG, where have I been? I didnt even notice that she had loc's when we met. Guess that is that soft hair that looks like cotton. But my oh my, it looks good! Tell her I said Hello and her loc's are growing nicely!

Goodnapps said...

Thanks Detra! I'll be sure to pass it along.

I wish my mom would do this, but she's still traumatized from a bad jeri curl experience to even let a stylist touch her hair. Your mama looks great!

Can we get an update on your Mom's SLs?

(I just clicked on the label - and I haven't read your WHOLE blog - so...I don't know if she lives in another city, or if you have posted pics since this one and forgot to label it.)
