20 Month Update

Yesterday was quite a lengthy session since I combined my retightening with a much needed grooming. It took me many many months to work up the nerve to do the grooming for fear of the skinned cat look. I would by lying if I said I didn't feel and look that way at least a little bit. But I am so pleased with the outcome and I love my new Nice Dreads look. It will be awhile before I work up the nerve to do it again.....say in two years perhaps.

Top Left: Post groomed and retightened back corner section.
Top Right: Front fully groomed and retightened.
Bottom Left: One lock pre-groomed.
Bottom Right: Lock after groomed.

Hi. I decided to check out your blog after reading your comment on mine. Thanks, and I must say that I love your pics, especially those of the curls after using soft spike curlers. I would love to know more about these products, as I'm not sure if they're available here in Jamaica.

Oooohhh...your hair looks great. I love looking thru your blog to see the growth so I can see where I will be in a year or so.

I didn't know (but why would I) Paulette locked her hair?!? wow

Your hair looks so good! I remember Paulette telling me about you not wanting any scissors near your head :) Thanks for the comment about my spritzing with oil. I think I'm going to take your advice and use it as needed only, which is really every 3 weeks, instead of weekly after every wash. I don't want anything to slow my process.

The grooming looks great. Your locks are looking wonderful. A grooming really help to tame a very wild hair phase I went through

Brunsli - you've got plenty volume for two people. I'm sure you will be very pleased with the results. As long as she sticks strictly to trimming the fuzzy hairs and not
length of the lock.

N drea - Why thank you so much. Soft spikes are definitely a hot item with us locked folks. They really deliver a good tight curl that will last for nearly 2 weeks. I do think Still Waters has some soft spikes and she is in Jamaica also.

Cluizel - Thanks. I know what you mean. I still peruse several
blogs to get an idea of my lock length down the road. And yep, Paulette finally took the plunge and joined the club. But they are oh so micro micro tiny. God Bless her.

Ebony - Thanks and you're welcome. I am definitely anti-scissors.
But when it's needed, some concessions are necessary. I feel it was worth it for sure.

Quietspirit - Thanks a bunch. I was really getting tired of all the fuzz, especially after a washing.

Oh Tanya, thank you for this post. I plan on scheduling my first grooming soon and this post really helps to see that it does make a difference. At first I did not think it was necessary but after 3 years & 9 months, and now seeing your post, I know I want to definitely have a grooming now.

Mel - Thanks dear. I am getting close to 2 years indeed. Seems like only yesterday they were installed.

Creyole - Thanks hon. Several?? You know you got fullness to burn
and then some.

Chosen - Thanks. I think you will be pleased.

Cheleskilove - Why thanks girl. Too bad the length isn't all over.
I'm not sure I'm digging my layers as much as I use to. Oh well,
I don't have any other choice.

Aya - Why thank you so much.

They look good. I like it best when my daughter's hair is groomed because hers can get so fuzzy. Me, I gotta keep all the fullness I can!

Sunsail - Thanks a bunch!

Brenda - Thanks! I'm surprised at how much a difference it makes. But I am missing the extra fullness. I guess it will be back in a few. I by no means will be a chronic groomer.

Ja Stu - Thanks so much. Yours will be too.
