Loving Accessories

Greetings everyone!! Length + maturity = I really get to enjoy my accessories to the fullest. Pictured above I'm wearing the Betty Davis Tomoka Twist. Sensational is all I have to say about this collection. As a matter of fact, it describes all of the pieces on the site. More sets are definitely in my future.

Below are a few pics of me wearing my Loc Soc. A different variation of how I wore it here in the summer. Versatility is so great.

As for washing, I took advantage of Chosenvessel's Komaza product post by going to the site and purchasing a few samples of the shampoo with emu and tea tree oil. Since it helps alleviate the itching and dandruff, I've splurged on a full bottle purchase. I have absolutely nothing against the Nizoral, but I would like to stick with natural remedies if possible. I will admit that I really don't look forward to washing my hair anymore. But that's just another one of the growing pains I guess.

At first I just knew I would keep growing my hair until I could at least sit on it. Strictly from a maintenance perspective, that probably won't happen. I'm pretty confident no hair cuts up until I hit my 4th year. After that, I'll just have to go with whatever feelings are driving me when that point in time gets here. In the meantime, I'll keep looking at Audrey's gorgeous Sisterlocks to help keep me motivated.

Self-retightening is still in the works. Despite the $250 for the SL training, I definitely have no regrets on taking the class in July of this year. Initially it's tedious but still liberating. Life happens and you never know when a situation is going to arise prompting you to have to give it a go yourself. My first try was over 30 hrs, the second was in the neighborhood of 20. I only have ambitions to get down to 10-14. In a couple of weeks, I'll have another try to see how close I come to getting there.

Class or no class, knowing that you can touch up your locks if needed is truly no understatement.

Sistalocd - no need to apologize at all. I'm thankful you continue to read. Thanks so much for the love. When you get that itch to treat yourself, the Tomoka twist are a wonderful way to do so.

Ja Stu - Thank you so much dear. I am doing good. But also trying to get my bearings together.

Still W - Thanks so much my dear. One should only stay away but for so long.

Cluizel - Thanks dear and you're welcome. I'm trying not to overdue it on the growth pills, but I guess I can't help it. j/k of course.

Lakia - Oh you're so kind. Thank you very much dear. I remember having lock envy syndrome for so long. It's a lot more under control now. So the good news is it doesn't last forever.

Muslim - why thank you so much!! All is good and for now I won't bother to complain.

SouthernGirl - Thank you so much. If it wasn't for the pics, I don't think I would believe it. So my philosophy is to keep taking lots of pics even if you think your hair isn't growing. You will be amazed when you see comparison shots.

YAY!!! An update... Your locks are divine and you are working that Tomoka Twist!

I feel you on the dry scalp and I will check out Chosen Vessel's post. One minute I think I've found the answer to mine and the next minute I want to just pull all my hair out.

I know that you weren't MIA, but it's so great to see you posting again. Look at how your hair has grown! Amazing. Looking good, too, with those hair accessories.

Meikmeika - Thanks. I feel you. I've just accepted that it will be an ongoing process to manage my dandruff. But at least I do think it's manageable and not unbearable at the moment.

Sophia - Thanks so much. Again, without pics, the difference doesn't seem as noticeable.

Dewdrop - Thank you very much. I started deep conditioning around 7 months and try to keep some leave in conditioner in at least once a month.

Mel - thank you so much.

ndrea - Thank you so much. Check back in a few months for the next update.

Wow! I can't believe how much your locks have grown. I think Dewdrop called it a "lock puff" but it looks like a ponytail to me. Thanks for the update.

Glad to finally hear from you again! I was about to make a road trip to find you! LOL...girl your hair looks great! And thanks for sharing the locsoc info, with my new length, hubby is complaining about hair all in his face at night, so I was looking for something I could sleep in. I might be your way in a few weeks, I will hit u up, if I do!

I'm so glad to see you back...I have been waiting for a new post from you for awhile...I though you didn't love us any more, LOL....Your hair has grown soooo much...I totally agree with learning how to do your hair even if you never took a class...Life is hectic and it it best to know than not.....I still have not retightened my whole head but that is one of my goals for the year...wish me luck.

Goodnapps said...

Alise - why thank you so much. Puff, pony - it's all good to me as long as it keeps growing.

Detra - What's going on girlie? Good to hear from you. I like the Loc Soc for styling but prefer the Ayana loc pocket to sleep in. See under my sleepcaps label.
That would be fab to see you again so keep me posted.

Queenli - Thank you so much.

Lockuluv - Me stop loving you guys? You've lasted longer than most of my relationships. Thanks so much for the compliments. When you have that itch and drive to finish your whole head, I'm sure you will do just that.

HEY, 1st of all Your hair is gorgoeus. I also tookthe retightening calss in July. I love being able to "keep it tight". I am also glad to know that I am not the only one who takes more than 5 hours to do my own hair. I usually di it in 4 days, 1/4 of my head each day. I don't have the patience to sit too long -- even when it's raining.

Yes indeed girlfriend your hair is certainly "on the grow". The styling versatility that comes with length is a lot of fun. It is good to catch up with your progress. Thanks for sharing and keep looking good!

Goodnapps said...

Chosen - Thanks so much. With your beautiful curl sets I see why you don't bother much. But I have to have some change or I'll go nuts.

Aya - Thank you so much. Year 2 is really when it takes off I guess.

Quietspirit - Thank you very much. Seeing your length from the early days really helped me stay focused on the best of what's to come.

MsJamison - Thank you very much. I really envy those who can do it in 10 hours or less. But I won't give up just yet. Keep up the good work yourself.

Tra - Thank you very much my dear. Having fun with it is so much fun and usually doesn't require much effort. That's what I really enjoy the most.

Hello! You look great (including your hair) in your photos. I love Loc Socs!

I would like to take the retightening class in the future in hopes I can do my own retightening a few times during the year. However, I am waiting for my hair to settle first before I attempt to do my own retightening.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Goodnapps said...

Jen & Chele - Thank you very much ladies!!!

Dreamangel - Thank you very much. Waiting for your hair to settle is probably a good idea. Your hair and circumstances will definitely let you know when to take the plunge.

Let me tell you something! Growth for "us" who've never had our "own" long hair is truly surreal. I am loving your pony! Keep in Growin' girl!

Goodnapps said...

Maryee - Thank you so much. There is a special feeling having your "own" healthy long hair for sure.

Your hair looks so good. You grow them locks as long as they will grow. I can't wait to see them!!!

I am officially overwhelmed! Talk about loc envy. I am a newby and can't believe your journey! I am wondering what in the world I am going to have to deal with, especially the grooming. Who knew?? There is a lot involved and I am learning so much. Keep us posted. You have done a great job so far. Your site is so easy to navigate.

Goodnapps said...

Dst - thanks hon. I'm going to do so with all I've got. As usual, I'll keep everyone posted.

Wendi - thank you so much. Your comment took me back to when I use to be soooo envious of everyone's locks. But it does ease up so much with time as your own locks grow and mature.

It may seem like a lot to do but I think it's just a few basics. The rest is experimentation which we all do in some form or fashion.

Again, thank you so much for the lovely comments! You'll get there too.

Creyole said...

Length? Wow, yes indeed and your looks are so ver healthy! Keep up the good work in taking care of those teenagers!

Thank you very much Creyole!! Love the new pic.
