Somebody Caruso'd Her Hair

Yep ladies. A few weeks ago I bought a caruso set and decided to make a debut while having lunch with Linda yesterday. The gadget was way more easier to use than I was expecting. Since it was my first time, I dedicated an hour to get my curls. Unfortunately, I needed more time. But I didn't want to be late meeting Linda so I had to leave a small corner near the top unrolled. Plus I was getting very frustrated that it was taking me so long. I said screw whether this is healthy for my locks everyday...ain't no way in the world I'm going to dedicate an hour to curling my hair everyday. I figure if I had more small rollers, that might shave off 20 minutes or so. But even 30-45 minutes daily is too much maintenance for me. Two minutes a day has spoiled me rotten! Despite my griping, I did enjoy the bumped look very much. But I'll definitely need some curls that will be able to go the distance. Soft Spikes here I come...............................

Very cute!

I love my Carusos, but they don't work as well now that my hair is longer. I figure they must be good for our hair because steam = moisture.

They take me 20 minutes, so you can definitely get faster, don't worry.

Thanks TRA. I am definitely looking
forward to trying the sponge rollers and soft spikes. I was wondering how you got your beautiful curls.

Thanks Brunsli. But when you say it
takes you 20 minutes, does that include putting them in, letting them dry, taking them out and styling? There's no way I can do all of this in less than 40-45 minutes. And that's only if I get enough curlers to cover almost
all of my head. I probably need at least 20 minutes for a decent curl. With 10 minutes, I got a barely there curl. So I don't disappoint myself, I better
stick to more realistic time frames.

Your hair looks nice and full. I was wondering how you got that look. I might have to just break down and invest in a Caruso. Did you gert it from a store or do you order it online?

Go Tanya! I like it! Unfortunately, Caruso curls don't last long. Go get your SS curlers, but while you're still short, you can roll a little more loosely.

I love your hair in both of these photos. Maybe I will need to get some SL mentoring from you, considering I just had SLs done yesterday.

Shane - thanks so much. I appreciate you taking an interest.

Thanks Sistlocd. I ordered the 30 roller set from Amazon.

Brenda - Thanks Brenda. I knew my caruso curls would be gone the next morning and they were. They were too darn loose to begin with.
So I guess caruso will serve its purpose every now and then.

NTG - Congratulations Lady!!I hope
you are happy with them. I'll be happy to help any way I can. But because of everyone's different texture, needs and wants - it ends
up being a journey of trial and error to find what works for you and what doesn't.

You make having short S/L's a little easier lol.
Not to mention I get a few style ideas from ya.

Tanya,

Don't give up on the caruso, I used to use it everyday when i was growing out my hair in microbraids. After the first two weeks I was able to put them in in 10 min and let them dry while i was getting dressed. It took no time to take out and the less steam you use the better the curl, the less you handle our hair the better the curls stay. I loved my caruso and i cant wait until my sisterlocks are long enough to use them again. Caruso's provide a quick curl for the morning after you dont feel like sleeping in soft spikes. BTW your locks are growing out quite nicely.

Thanks so much Onyxcherry. Your suggestions may have just saved my caruso from collecting a lot of dust.

Thanks Michelle.

If I am diligent and have both of my steamers going, I can get them in within 15 minutes. (Of course Brunsli needs 2 sets of Carusos for her hair.) Then I do my makeup and take them out in another 5 minutes. But, maybe that's why I'm not getting the same curl I used to. Perhaps I should go back to fewer stands per roller. Or, it could just be the length.

I'm on a Soft Spike kick now -- it's more of a time investment up front but lasts longer. Still, my hair feel great after the Caruso steam and I don't get that softness with SSs.

I LIKE THE WAY YOUR HAIR FALLS AROUND YOUR FACE IT IS VERY BECOMING . I HOPE MY LOCS WILL LOOK THAT CUTE WHEN THEY ARE FREESTYLE LIKE THAT! BEAUTIFUL HAIR.

I love the bump. I agree with you. I couldn't do it everyday. I use Caruso if I'm going out and need a last minute style. It doesn't take a full hour, but the time it does take me isn't worth the curl that will fall after a few hours. I love my soft spike curlers. I do them on Sunday and will have curls for the whole week and longer if I don't do my weekly shampoo. The style did turn out cute though.

Thanks Ree-C. I just ordered my soft spikes over the weekend. I'm very anxious to give them a try when I get them.

Tanya, I really like the look of your locks with the Carusos. Since I'm so late responding, you may have come up with the remedy already...but like Brunsli said, you get faster the more the you use them. I agree with B, it takes me about 20 minutes to do my whole head. After getting mine, B and I traded sizes. I sent her my big curlers and she sent me her smaller ones and I ordered some more on line. Use less hair with each curler to get more of a curl. My Caruso curls only last about 1-2 days. I recently ordered some spike curlers which work great and the curls last a week or more especially if you spritz with a water/Lottabody (setting lotion) mixture. Anyway...don't know why I'm writing all of this since I love your freestyle and can't wait until I feel comfortable with the freestyle. See my blog with the recent post about my sons - that's a Caruso set.

Why thanks so much Blaq! Your caruso sets are so pretty, I can only dream of having curls that pretty. But with you and Brunsl's advice, I'll give it another shot.
